Hi DarkMarketeers! My name is Venessa Giunta and I’m one of the new folks helping out around here. I’ll mainly be talking about the craft of writing, but we’ll also discuss the business of writing (which takes just as much time and effort). I’m a Senior Editor for a (non-horror) e-publisher and I do freelance editing of commercial fiction manuscripts.

In addition to editing, I’m also a writer like you (okay, maybe not exactly like you, but you get it). I create stories of supernatural suspense with horrific elements, and also urban fantasy and various other weird stuff. I’m working on breaking in as a writer too, so we can do this together!

This weekend I’ll be attending the Borderlands Press Boot Camp in Towson, MD. If you read or write horror, you’re probably familiar with Borderlands Press. And if you’re not familiar, you should be. This event is an intensive workshopping weekend for genre fiction writers of all flavors. The instructors this year are Tom Monteleone, F. Paul Wilson, Douglas E. Winter and Ginjer Buchanan. We’re scheduled pretty tightly, so I may not be able to post about the weekend while it’s happening, but you can bet you’ll hear from me soon afterward!
